Desa Minggirsari Kabupaten Blitar merupakan wilayah yang memiliki kerentanan terhadap bencana hidrometeorologi, khususnya banjir akibat kedekatannya dengan kawasan aliran sungai. Rendahnya literasi kebencanaan keluarga, terutama dalam aspek mitigasi dan kesiapsiagaan, menjadi tantangan yang berpotensi meningkatkan risiko korban saat terjadi bencana. Pengabdian masyarakat ini berfokus pada penguatan kapasitas keluarga melalui program pendampingan literasi kebencanaan berbasis komunitas dengan memanfaatkan Sekolah Sungai sebagai ruang edukasi partisipatif. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan, kesadaran, dan keterampilan keluarga dalam menghadapi potensi bencana secara mandiri dan berkelanjutan. Metode pengabdian menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR) dengan strategi edukasi partisipatif melalui sosialisasi, pelatihan mitigasi bencana, simulasi evakuasi, permainan edukatif, serta pendampingan keluarga siaga bencana. Subjek pengabdian terdiri atas ibu, anak, dan masyarakat sekitar kawasan sungai di Desa Minggirsari. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai tanda-tanda bencana, jalur evakuasi, serta langkah penyelamatan diri dan keluarga. Selain itu, kegiatan ini berhasil membangun kesadaran kolektif masyarakat tentang pentingnya budaya sadar bencana melalui keterlibatan aktif keluarga dan komunitas lokal. Program Sekolah Sungai juga menjadi media edukasi yang efektif dalam memperkuat ketangguhan keluarga berbasis lingkungan dan komunitas.
Abstract
Minggirsari Village, Blitar Regency, is vulnerable to hydrometeorological disasters, particularly flooding, due to its proximity to river basins. Low levels of family disaster literacy, particularly in mitigation and preparedness, pose a challenge that potentially increases the risk of casualties during a disaster. This community service project focuses on strengthening family capacity through a community-based disaster literacy mentoring program utilizing the River School as a participatory educational space. The objective of this activity is to increase family knowledge, awareness, and skills in responding to potential disasters independently and sustainably. The community service method uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach with participatory education strategies through outreach, disaster mitigation training, evacuation simulations, educational games, and disaster preparedness family mentoring. The community service participants included mothers, children, and the community around the river basin in Minggirsari Village. The results of the community service program indicate an increase in community understanding of disaster warning signs, evacuation routes, and personal and family safety measures. Furthermore, this activity successfully built collective community awareness of the importance of a disaster-aware culture through the active involvement of families and the local community. The River School program also serves as an effective educational tool for strengthening family resilience based on the environment and community.
