Palang Merah Remaja (PMR) di SMP IT Assalam Malang memiliki peran penting sebagai first responder dalam kegawatdaruratan di lingkungan sekolah. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan dan survei, didapatkan kondisi program PMR yang kapasitasnya masih terbatas, dengan hanya 20% anggota yang memahami Bantuan Hidup Dasar (BHD) dan 40% peralatan P3K yang tidak layak. Pengabdian masyarakat ini mengimplementasikan model pelatihan aktif kepada 25 anggota PMR. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup workshop, demonstrasi, praktik langsung menggunakan manekin, serta pemanfaatan media edukasi inovatif berupa modul "SIGAP!" dan flashcard "Seri First Aid". Hasil dari kegiatan ini terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan, dari skor rata-rata pre-test 35% menjadi 85% pada post-test. Sebanyak 95% peserta mampu mendemonstrasikan prosedur BHD dengan benar dan 90% terampil dalam teknik pertolongan pertama cedera umum. Kegiatan pengabdian ini terbukti efektif meningkatkan kompetensi kognitif dan psikomotor anggota PMR. Program ini berhasil memberdayakan anggota PMR atau youth empowerment sebagai garda terdepan penanganan darurat berbasis sekolah yang tangguh dan berkarakter.
Abstract
The Youth Red Cross (PMR) at SMP IT Assalam Malang plays a vital role as first responders for emergencies at school. Based on observations and surveys, it was found that the program's capacity was quite limited, with only 20% of its members understanding Basic Life Support (BLS) and 40% of the first aid equipment being in poor condition. This community service project implemented an active training model for 25 PMR members. The methods included workshops, demonstrations, hands-on practice with mannequins, and the use of innovative educational tools, such as the "SIGAP!" module and the "First Aid Series" flashcards. As a result of this activity, there was a significant increase in knowledge, with the average pre-test score rising from 35% to 85% on the post-test. Additionally, 95% of the participants were able to correctly demonstrate BLS procedures, and 90% became skilled in first aid techniques for common injuries. This community service project proved to be effective in improving both the cognitive (knowledge) and psychomotor (practical) skills of the PMR members. The program successfully empowered the PMR to become a resilient and principled frontline for emergency response at school
