Abstract

Abstract
Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and long-term disability in Indonesia. However, this condition can actually be prevented and its impact reduced if recognized and treated early and appropriately. One effective method for detecting early signs of stroke is the BE-FAST method, which emphasizes observation of Balance, Eyes (vision), Face, Arms, Speech, and Time of onset. This community service activity aims to enhance public knowledge and awareness of the importance of early stroke detection using the BE-FAST method, as well as to encourage the adoption of a healthy lifestyle as a preventive measure. The activity was carried out at the ILP Community Health Post in Pelem Village and involved the active participation of local residents, particularly the elderly population who are at higher risk of stroke. The series of activities included health education on early symptoms of stroke and the application of the BE-FAST method, the implementation of hypertension exercise as a promotive and preventive effort, and evaluation of the program’s effectiveness through pre- and post-education questionnaires. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding of the early signs of stroke and the importance of immediate response. This initiative is expected to raise community awareness to seek prompt medical attention at the onset of stroke symptoms, thereby increasing the chances of recovery and minimizing the risk of long-term disability
